Understanding your net worth on Overview
Net worth is what you own minus what you owe. Here is what feeds it, and how to add the things your bank does not know about.
The Overview page builds your net worth from two sources: accounts linked through Plaid, and manual items you add yourself. Net worth means what you own minus what you owe, and it is the number Seed treats as the scoreboard.
Adding what the bank cannot see
- Property, with an address
- Vehicles, by VIN or by make, model and year
- Physical assets and products you own
- Manual accounts that are not linked
- Manual debts
A property added with its address can pull an estimated home value from a valuation provider, and a vehicle can be valued from its VIN or make, model and year. Each property has its own detail screen showing the current estimate.
Estimates are approximations
Automatic property and vehicle values are estimates from third-party data, not appraisals. Treat them as a running approximation of the asset, not a valuation you could take to a lender.
Adding or removing a manual asset or liability changes your net worth immediately, and can change related Insights and history.
