Scanning receipts

Upload a receipt and Seed reads it into line items, fees, and gratuity. Then you can search your transactions by what you actually bought.

Open a transaction's detail screen. Below the note box there is Upload Receipt, or Replace This Receipt if one already exists, with a camera icon. Receipts are picked from your photo library, and HEIC photos are handled automatically.

What Seed extracts

  • Line items, with name, quantity, and per-unit price
  • Sales tax and other named fees, such as a service charge, delivery fee, or bag fee
  • Gratuity and tip lines
  • Subtotal and total

Review before saving

Items, quantities, fees, and gratuity are all editable lists. Add or remove rows, then tap Accept to verify. A live banner flags when the extracted items do not reconcile with the receipt total, for example Items are 12 dollars short, check for a missing item.

Once accepted you get a verified breakdown: an item breakdown with a dollar and percent toggle, Fees and Charges, Gratuity, a Total recap, and an insight donut. Tapping the receipt image opens it fullscreen with pinch-to-zoom.

Now your transactions are searchable by content

Searching a receipt line item finds the transaction it was on, including pending ones. Gardener can answer questions like how much you have spent on coffee beans across every scanned receipt.

One receipt per transaction. Deleting the receipt also removes its analysis and its line items.
