Adding a billing cycle: statement date, due date, credit limit

Many banks report a card's statement date, payment due date, minimum payment, and credit limit automatically. When they do, Seed shows those values and you cannot edit them, because the bank is the source of truth.

Some banks report none of it. Certain cards are also tied to a checking account rather than a separate card account, so the cycle lives on the checking account instead. In both cases you can add the cycle yourself.

Adding one

1. 1Open the account from Overview.
2. 2Scroll to Account Actions.
3. 3Choose Add Billing Cycle. It becomes Edit Billing Cycle once set.
4. 4Pick a date on the calendar. Seed keeps only the day of the month, because the cycle repeats. Months that are too short use their last day, so a 31 lands on 28 February.
5. 5Set the statement date and the payment due date separately. After the first one, the other can be set from its row in the Billing section.

What you get

• Both dates appear on the forecast calendar. The statement closing day is marked in yellow and the payment due day in red, matching how expenses are marked. Tapping the day shows which account it belongs to.
• Statement balance: once a cycle is set, Seed records the account's balance each time the statement closes and shows it under Account Health. It appears after the first close, not immediately.
• Credit limit: on a card where the bank reports no limit, you can set it from the Credit Limit row. Setting it also makes the credit utilization percentage work for that card.

Clearing both dates removes the billing cycle and the account goes back to showing Add Billing Cycle.
