Why balances and transactions can lag

Linked data arrives on the institution's schedule, not instantly. Here is what is normal and what is not.

Linked account data depends on your financial institution and on Plaid's sync timing. Some balances and transactions do not update the moment a purchase happens.

  • Pending transactions can change amount, merchant, or date before they post.
  • Some institutions post in overnight batches.
  • Investment values move with the market even when you did not buy or sell anything.
  • An account that repeatedly fails to sync usually needs reconnecting from the Accounts area.

If something looks outdated, refresh the screen, check the account's sync status, and give the institution time to finish posting.
